State Public Pensions in Nebraska: key facts

Systems
State, County, Nebraska School and Omaha School, Judges, and State Patrol retirement systems, plus a voluntary Deferred Compensation Plan.
Retiree death
What continues depends on the payment option elected — a single-life option pays nothing further, while a 50%, 75%, or 100% joint and survivor option continues a portion to the surviving beneficiary.
Pre-retirement death
A death benefit may be payable to the beneficiary on file. Every member completes a beneficiary designation directing how any death benefit is distributed.
Member services
800-245-5712, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; member account at npers.ne.gov.
