  1. Call GDOL UI Customer Service at 1-877-709-8185 (8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday) to report the death and close the claim.
  2. Ask UI Customer Service whether any payment remains due for weeks the claimant already requested before the date of death, and what documentation the Department requires — GDOL publishes no standing procedure for this, so the answer comes from the Department.
  3. Be prepared to repay any benefits paid that the claimant did not qualify for; GDOL treats those as an overpayment that must be repaid.
