Steps to take

  1. Search mycash.utah.gov for the deceased's name and prior addresses, and run a multi-state search at missingmoney.com.
  2. File a claim as the estate representative or heir with:
    • Certified Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration if the estate was probated
    • Notarized small estate affidavit under UCA 75-3-1201 if the estate is under $100,000 and 30 days have passed since death
    • Proof of death and government-issued identification
  3. Submit through the MyCash portal or by mail as instructed in the claim packet, and respond to any document requests from the Unclaimed Property Division.
  4. The administrator has 90 days to allow or deny the claim after it is filed; if no decision is issued, the claim is considered denied and the claimant may seek administrative review.
