Visit the agency website →Search nmclaims.unclaimedproperty.com, then file a claim with a copy of the death certificate and proof of authority — Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration if the estate was probated, or other proof of heirship — along with your identification and Social Security number.
The Taxation and Revenue Department has 90 days from the date a claim is filed to approve or deny it, and an additional 30 days to pay an approved claim.
New Mexico holds unclaimed property until the owner or their heirs claim it, so there is generally no deadline for heirs to file a claim.
