Steps to take

  1. Search nmclaims.unclaimedproperty.com for the deceased's name and prior addresses, and run a multi-state search at missingmoney.com.
  2. File a claim as the estate representative or heir with:
    • A copy of the death certificate
    • Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration if the estate was probated, or other proof of heirship
    • The claimant's identification and Social Security number
  3. TRD reviews the claim and issues a decision within 90 days, then pays an approved claim within 30 days.
