Search indianaunclaimed.gov, then file a claim with proof of death and proof of authority — Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration if the estate was probated, or heirship documentation if it was not.
Yes. If the total gross estate does not exceed $100,000 (for deaths after June 30, 2022) and no petition for a personal representative is pending, an heir may present a notarized Small Estate Affidavit (Indiana State Form 54985) in place of Letters Testamentary. The affidavit cannot be used until 45 days after the date of death. Ind. Code 29-1-8-1.
