Steps to take

  1. Search the Wyoming State Treasurer's unclaimed property records for the deceased's name and prior addresses, and run a multi-state search at missingmoney.com.
  2. File a claim as the estate representative or heir on the form prescribed by the administrator:
    • Certified Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration if the estate was probated
    • Documentation of heirship if probate was not required
    • Proof of death and identification
  3. The administrator considers the claim within 90 days and gives written notice of any denial (Wyo. Stat. 34-24-125).
  4. If a claim has not been acted on within 90 days, or the claimant disagrees with the decision, an action to establish the claim may be brought in the district court of the claimant's county or in Laramie County district court (Wyo. Stat. 34-24-127).
