Steps to take

  1. Search unclaimedproperty.delaware.gov for the deceased's name and prior addresses, and run a multi-state search at missingmoney.com.
  2. File a claim as the estate representative or heir:
    • A certified death certificate for the deceased owner
    • Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration if the estate was probated
    • Court or vital records establishing heirship if probate was not required
    • Identification for the person filing the claim
  3. The Office of Unclaimed Property reviews the claim and the supporting documents and pays an approved claim to the entitled heir or estate.
