Steps to take

  1. Search yourmoney.idaho.gov for the deceased's name and prior addresses, and search MissingMoney.com for property held by other states.
  2. File a claim as the heir, executor, or personal representative with:
    • A copy of the death certificate for every deceased owner on the account (photocopies are accepted)
    • Documentation showing you are the nearest living relative or heir, or the court-appointed executor or personal representative
    • The deceased owner's will, if there was one
    • Documentation of any name change (marriage certificate, divorce decree, adoption papers, certificate of name change)
  3. Submit the claim through yourmoney.idaho.gov, upload documentation at the claim-document upload page, and respond to any further requests from the Treasurer's office.
  4. Track the claim at the claim-status page; the administrator must allow or deny a complete claim within 90 days unless the review is extended for reasonable cause.
