Under Ubisoft Entertainment SA's terms, Ubisoft Connect game library do not constitute property of the account holder and are forfeited when the account is closed upon death. There is no established process for transferring game library to heirs or the estate.

There are reports of Ubisoft Entertainment SA making exceptions through customer service, but these accommodations are discretionary and not guaranteed.

What to do

After a Ubisoft Connect account holder's death, here is how to proceed:

1
Recognize that the Ubisoft account, its game library and entitlements, Ubisoft Virtual Currency, and Ubisoft Connect Units are a personal, non-transferable license under Ubisoft's Terms of Use and cannot be transferred to an heir or to the estate. Ubisoft publishes no deceased-account, inheritance, or estate-claim process.
2
Do not sign in with the deceased holder's credentials. Ubisoft's Terms of Use (§2.2, Account Safety) instruct the holder to "Never share your Account details (username, password…) with anyone" and "Never authorize anyone to access and/or use your Account," and the Rules of Conduct prohibit sharing, lending, selling, or transferring accounts or authentication methods. A survivor's route runs through Ubisoft Support and through the payment source, not through the account's login.
3
Stop the money first, because that does not require the account. A Ubisoft+ subscription keeps billing until it is cancelled:
  • If the subscription was bought through another platform store (a console store or PC storefront), Ubisoft's own guidance is that it is cancelled directly on that platform rather than on Ubisoft's site. See Cancelling your Ubisoft+ subscription.
  • Otherwise ask Ubisoft Support to cancel it, and stop the charge at its source as well -- the card issuer or bank can cancel the card, revoke the authorization, or be instructed to stop payments.
4
Contact Ubisoft Support in writing and explain the circumstances. The published intake is the Contact Us form, whose categories include "Account Management and Security" (help with accessing, managing and protecting your account) and "Purchases and Subscriptions" (queries regarding recent purchases or active subscriptions). Ubisoft publishes no deceased-account procedure and no list of required documents, so ask what it needs and expect support to determine the documentation case by case. Ubisoft is not obliged to act, and no outcome is published.
5
Ask Ubisoft to close the account when it is no longer needed, rather than closing it yourself from inside the account. Ubisoft's self-service closure runs from the Account information page and requires any active subscription to be cancelled first; a closed account is placed in a 30-day suspension before permanent closure, after which Ubisoft states it cannot restore associated data or recover the account. See Closing your Ubisoft account.
6
Do not assume the account will lapse on its own. Ubisoft closes inactive accounts only where every criterion is met -- no login in the last four years, not a child or teen account, and NOT linked to any game ownership, active subscription, purchased or redeemed content, or saved gaming progression. A gamer's account holding a library or progression does not meet those criteria, so it will sit open until someone acts.
7
Record the account for the estate inventory from what is already known -- the email address on the account, any purchase receipts or card statements, and any Ubisoft+ billing -- understanding that the library, Ubisoft Connect Units, and Ubisoft Virtual Currency cannot be cashed out, transferred, or inherited.

Required Documents

  • Death certificate (Ubisoft does not publish a deceased-account documentation list; provide on request if you contact support)
  • Proof of authority to act for the estate, such as Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration (provide on request; not enumerated by Ubisoft)

Frequently asked questions

No. Ubisoft licenses access to its Services and Content rather than selling them, and the Terms of Use grant a "personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensed, and revocable" license, stating the content is "LICENSED TO YOU, NOT SOLD." The account itself is non-transferable: Ubisoft's rules prohibit sharing, lending, selling, or transferring an account or its credentials. Ubisoft publishes no inheritance or estate-transfer process, so the account, its game library, and its entitlements cannot be retitled or moved to an heir.

No. Ubisoft does not provide any beneficiary designation, legacy contact, or inheritance setting for a Ubisoft account. There is no way to name someone to receive the account, the game library, Ubisoft Connect Units, or Ubisoft Virtual Currency on your death.

Both are forfeited. Ubisoft Connect Units "do not constitute your property," carry no monetary value, may not be transferred or exchanged with other users or accounts for any reason, and expire two years from when they were earned. Ubisoft Virtual Currency cannot be sold, traded, transferred, or exchanged for cash. When an account is terminated, Ubisoft states no credit for unused points or Virtual Currency is credited or converted into cash, so neither can be inherited.

Ubisoft does not publish a dedicated deceased-account process, and a survivor should not sign in with the deceased holder's credentials -- Ubisoft's Terms of Use (§2.2) say to "Never share your Account details (username, password…) with anyone" and "Never authorize anyone to access and/or use your Account." The route that does not need the login is to stop the billing and write to support. A Ubisoft+ subscription bought through another platform store is cancelled on that platform, and the card issuer or bank can stop the charge at its source. Then use Ubisoft's [Contact Us form](https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/help/contact) -- categories include "Account Management and Security" and "Purchases and Subscriptions" -- explain the circumstances, and ask what it needs to close the account. Because no procedure is published, support determines any documentation case by case and no outcome is published. Note that the account will not simply lapse: Ubisoft closes inactive accounts only where there is no game ownership, no active subscription, no purchased or redeemed content, and no saved progression.

Ubisoft does not publish a deceased-account documentation list, so there is no stated requirement. Account closure is normally a self-service action taken from within the account. If you contact Ubisoft Support about a deceased holder, be prepared to provide a death certificate and proof of authority to act for the estate (such as Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration) if requested, even though Ubisoft does not enumerate these in advance.

Under the official terms, game library have no value after the account holder dies. The only way to preserve the value of Ubisoft Connect game library is to redeem, transfer, or share them while the account is active.
