What happens to a Peacock account when someone dies

“Subscription purchases have no monetary value (for example, they are not a cash account or equivalent) and are purchases of only a limited, non-exclusive, revocable, non-assignable, and non-transferable right to access and use the Peacock Service in accordance with these Terms of Service. You may not transfer, sell, purchase, barter, or trade your subscription or attempt or offer to do so. Any attempted transfer will be null and void.”¹

Under Section 9.5 the Terms "are binding upon and will inure to the benefit of the parties and their respective successors, heirs, executors, administrators, personal representatives, and permitted assigns"; an assignment made without Peacock's prior written consent is void.¹

An estate goes through the same cancellation, refund and account-deletion paths as any other user; Peacock runs no separate estate review.¹

Peacock's refund article states that "Peacock charges are generally non-refundable" and that "Peacock reserves the right to issue refunds at its sole discretion."²

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the then-current subscription term, and the subscriber must cancel no later than the day before the next recurring billing date to avoid a charge for the next term (Sections 2.6.1 and 2.6.2).¹

Cancel All Subscriptions on the account page ends the base plan (Select, Premium or Premium Plus) and every add-on, such as a regional sports network or Starz. Peacock's cancellation article states that if you cannot log in to cancel, you can cancel via chat.³

Section 2.7 puts the billing relationship for a plan bought through a third party with that third party, and Peacock cannot cancel those plans. A Peacock benefit bundled with another purchase ends only when that purchase is cancelled.^{1, 3}

Under Section 2.6.3 no prorated refunds or credits are issued unless required by applicable law or for an immediate upgrade, and Peacock reserves the right to issue refunds, credits or discounts in its sole discretion.¹

A redeemed Peacock Gift Card balance "will appear as a credit to the account until used," Gift Cards "do not expire," and no dormancy or service fees apply.⁴

Section 4 of the Gift Card Terms states that Gift Cards "have no cash value, there are no credits, refunds or exchanges, and they may not be redeemed for cash, either before or after redemption, unless otherwise required by applicable law."⁴

Account deletion is a separate request from cancellation and runs through the NBCUniversal privacy page; Peacock warns that a deletion request "may result in the removal of your plan and paid or unpaid accounts with Peacock."⁵

Peacock states that a deletion request "may impact your access to other NBCUniversal brands and platforms" and "may be treated as a cancellation by you," so it can end the plan and erase the payment history and Gift Card credit.⁵

Section 5.3 reserves the right to terminate any Peacock account that remains inactive for an extended period, for example more than one year, but paid subscriptions keep billing until cancelled, whatever the activity.¹

Once the subscription ends, downloaded titles on the member's devices become inaccessible, and watchlists, continue-watching positions and viewing history cannot be migrated to another household member's account.¹

Household access does not survive cancellation, and Peacock has no profile-transfer feature.¹

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island and Texas, and their authorized agents, may submit access, correction or deletion requests through the NBCUniversal privacy webform.⁶

California and Colorado residents or their authorized agents may also make these requests by phone. The route is NBCUniversal's general privacy rights channel, not a deceased-user channel.⁶

NBCUniversal states it will "take reasonable steps to verify your identity, including authenticating you through the email address."⁶
