There are two ways to keep your Global CU accounts out of probate: adding Payable on Death designations and retitling accounts into a trust. Because Global CU is a membership-based institution, trust retitling must maintain the membership eligibility requirement. Both methods ensure your accounts transfer directly to the people you choose, without court involvement.
Global CU has 10 accounts with different estate transfer rules. Here is how beneficiary designations, trust ownership, and probate apply to each one.

Visit any Global Credit Union branch

Request a Payable on Death (POD) beneficiary designation form

Complete the form with required beneficiary details:
- Full name, date of birth, Social Security number, and relationship for each beneficiary
- Percentage allocation if naming multiple beneficiaries

All account holders must sign the form

Submit to a member service representative for processing
Required Documents
- Trust name, date established, and tax ID (EIN or SSN)
Special Requirements
- POD designation available for checking, savings, money market, and certificate accounts
- IRAs use a separate beneficiary designation form
- Trusts can be named as POD beneficiaries
- Multiple beneficiaries permitted with customizable allocation percentages
- Beneficiaries must be added to each account individually
- Changes can be made at any time at no charge
- POD accounts are NCUA-insured separately up to $250,000 per beneficiary
