Operates eight branch locations: Branford (620 West Main Street), Guilford (849 Boston Post Road), Hamden (2100 Dixwell Avenue), Meriden (533 S. Broad Street), Monroe (155 Main Street), New Haven (2 Whitney Avenue), North Haven (404 Washington Avenue), and Orange (212 Boston Post Road). Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, attends school, or worships in New Haven, Hartford, Middlesex, or Fairfield County. Members access shared branching and surcharge-free ATMs nationwide through the CO-OP network. With 19 account types, the transfer rules vary—getting the right designations in place now prevents delays and court involvement later.

Beneficiary changes at Connex CU can be made in branch, by mail, and by phone. Accounts can also be retitled into a trust to keep them out of probate entirely.

Connex CU operates in select states, so estate planning procedures may vary by location. Confirm availability in your state before initiating trust funding or account changes.


Frequently asked questions

Contact Connex at (203) 603-5700 or (800) 278-6466, or visit a branch. Bring your complete trust document or a Certificate of Trust, government-issued photo ID for all trustees, and the trust EIN. Connex will complete a trust account application and retitle your accounts to trust ownership. Eligible deposit accounts include checking, savings, money market, and share certificates. IRAs cannot be retitled to a trust but can name a trust as beneficiary. Alternatively, you can name your trust as POD beneficiary on personal accounts as a simpler approach.

Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, attends school, or worships in New Haven, Hartford, Middlesex, or Fairfield County in Connecticut. Once a member, you are a member for life. Membership is established with a $25 deposit into a Regular Share Account. You must be age 18 or older to open an account online.

Connex offers three personal checking accounts. Plus Checking earns 1.49% APY on balances up to $25,000 (1.50% blended on balances from $25,000.01-$50,000) when qualifications are met, includes ATM fee refunds up to $20/month, and has no monthly fee. Your Choice Checking earns 0.05% APY with a $8.99 monthly fee (waived with direct deposit of $200+) and includes a bonus rate on share certificates and Money Market Share accounts. Pathways Checking is a no-fee, Bank On certified account with no overdraft or NSF fees. All three include Early Payday, Zelle, debit card controls, and ConnexPerks rewards. Teen Green Checking is available for ages 13-17.

Connex offers share certificates with terms from 6 to 60 months and a $500 minimum deposit. Your Choice Checking account holders receive a bonus rate on standard certificates. Promotional terms may be available periodically; at maturity, promotional certificates roll over to a standard 12-month certificate at the current rate. Early withdrawal penalties may apply. All certificates are NCUA insured up to $250,000 and support POD beneficiary designations.

Yes. Connex IRA accounts (Traditional IRA and Roth IRA) accept a trust as a named beneficiary. However, IRAs cannot be retitled to a trust. Beneficiary designations are completed at the time of account opening on a separate IRA beneficiary form.
