Wix Customer Care (no dedicated estate channel)

Verified Jul 2026

Wix is an all-in-one website platform powering over 250 million sites worldwide. A single Wix account can hold multiple websites, registered domains, online stores with order history, booking systems with client data, CRM contacts, email marketing campaigns, blog content, member areas, media files, and Google Workspace email.

When a Wix account holder dies, their accounts may be transferred to a designated person at Wix's sole discretion. A transfer is not guaranteed, and satisfactory documentation is required before processing any request.

During the account holder's lifetime, Wix allows accounts to be transferred to another individual.

What happens at death

Wix does not publish a formal estate or bereavement policy. There is no dedicated deceased-account process. Account ownership is tied to the login email address, and for premium sites, billing details may also establish ownership. Wix states it does not mediate disputes between parties and may decline access requests from anyone other than the original account creator. Wix recommends seeking help from a local legal adviser or law enforcement if access is contested. An executor must contact Wix support and provide documentation for case-by-case review.

Wix does not support beneficiary designations. Unlike bank accounts or investment accounts, there is no way to formally name a beneficiary on this type of account.

Frequently asked questions

The transfer includes the site design and content, all media files and file uploads, Wix Stores products and categories, CRM site contacts, site members, email marketing campaigns, and premium apps. Optional toggles cover the premium plan, domain, and Google Workspace business email. Payment information, the Wix Payments account, customer recurring subscriptions, purchased logos, Google Ads campaigns, Facebook Ads campaigns, and Velo Secrets Manager data do not transfer. Active Facebook Ads prevent the transfer entirely and must expire first. Existing blog posts display on the transferred site as read-only.

No. Wix does not support exporting blog posts to other platforms. This is logged as a feature request in the Wix Help Center. Blog posts can be imported between Wix sites within the same account, and when a site transfers, posts display correctly but cannot be edited by the new owner.

Yes. In the Domains section, select "Transfer away from Wix." Wix sends an EPP code to the registrant email. The transfer takes up to 7 days and cannot be initiated within 60 days of purchase or a registrant information change (ICANN rule). Note that certain domain extensions (.de, .fr, .nl, .at, .be, .ch, .me, .mx, .com.br, .co.at, .or.at) skip the grace period entirely and go directly to redemption if they expire.

No. Wix does not support beneficiary designations or a successor role. The Admin (Co-Owner) role provides broad access including billing and the Payments dashboard, but cannot transfer or delete the site and cannot connect a new domain. Only the original site owner can initiate a transfer, making lifetime transfer the most reliable planning option.

Because only the Owner can transfer a site and Wix may decline third-party requests, the most reliable plan is to transfer full site ownership to a trusted person while you are alive. From the site dashboard, use Site Actions and select "Transfer site," then complete the Transfer Ownership form. You can choose to remain as Co-Owner. As a backup, export your CRM contacts, store orders, product lists, booking reports, and media files as CSV/downloads, and document your account login email and password for your executor. The transfer invite expires in 3 days, so coordinate with the recipient before sending it.

A Wix-registered domain stays active as long as the subscription renews. If a renewal is missed, the domain enters an approximately 30-day grace period (recoverable without an extra fee), then an approximately 30-day redemption period (recoverable for a fee), then a 5 to 10 day pending delete phase, after which it becomes publicly available. Some extensions (such as .de, .fr, .nl, .at, .be, .ch, .me, .mx) skip the grace period and go straight to redemption. An executor with account access can transfer the domain to another registrar using an EPP/authorization code, subject to the 60-day ICANN transfer lock.
