Because Sephora points are forfeited at death under Sephora USA, Inc.'s terms, the only way to preserve their value is through action taken while the account is active.
How to protect your Sephora points
Here are 4 steps to protect and manage your Sephora points while the account is active:
Family sharing
Beauty Insider does not offer family pooling, household accounts, or point sharing. The Beauty Insider Terms & Conditions limit the program to one account per person and state that Rewards are non-transferable and points are non-transferable between clients, so there is no mechanism to combine or move points or Rewards to another member's account.
Should you save your passwords for your family?
Some people store account passwords so a family member can sign in later. The practice has three practical limits:
- Two-factor authentication often blocks it. Most accounts require a second factor — a code sent to a phone, an authenticator app, a passkey, or a physical key. A saved password alone frequently does not grant access, and the recovery codes that would are easy to lose or let go stale.
- It usually conflicts with the platform's terms. Most operators prohibit account sharing and signing in as another person, including after a death. Stored credentials are not the operator's recognized access path, and using them can violate the terms of service.
- Operators provide other paths. Where an operator offers a designation tool — Apple's Legacy Contact, Google's Inactive Account Manager, a beneficiary designation — that mechanism grants access the operator recognizes. A password manager's own emergency-access or legacy feature passes credentials through a controlled process. Digital assets named in a will or trust give a fiduciary authority under each state's Revised Uniform Fiduciary Access to Digital Assets Act (RUFADAA).
Frequently asked questions
Treat Beauty Insider Points as a use-it-or-lose-it benefit, not an inheritable asset. They cannot be transferred or cashed out and expire after 12 months of inactivity, so redeem any meaningful balance for rewards or merchandise while you are able. There is nothing to designate to a beneficiary; instead, leave your executor the account email so they can close the account and stop any linked auto-replenish orders or stored payment after death.
No. Beauty Insider offers no beneficiary designation. The Terms & Conditions limit the program to one account per person and provide no death or estate transfer path, so points cannot be assigned to a named recipient in advance. The practical alternative is to redeem meaningful balances during your lifetime and leave your executor the account email.
Recording that a Sephora account exists, alongside other accounts, gives a fiduciary the information needed to reach the operator through its official process.
Sephora does not offer beneficiary designations, so there is no program-level mechanism for directing points to a specific person at death.
