What happens to a Poshmark account when someone dies

“You cannot transfer or assign your Account to a third party without prior written consent from Poshmark. Poshmark may require additional information from you regarding the requested transfer or assignment. You cannot otherwise transfer, sell, or dispose of your Account under any circumstances.”¹

Section 16(b) of the Terms lets Poshmark suspend or terminate an account at its discretion without explanation, notice or liability, including removing and discarding any items or content, for any reason and at any time.¹

A deletion does not complete while the account still has pending transactions, including unreceived orders, tracking delays and open returns, a redeemable balance, or a gift card with a balance.²

Poshmark requires up to 10 business days from the time a redemption request is made before it completes an account deletion.²

A second Poshmark article asks members who want to start a Vacation Hold or permanently delete an account to reach out to Poshmark Support beforehand, so it can make the changes on its end.³

Account deletion is self-service and permanent, and the "How to delete my account" article states that Poshmark cannot process deletion requests submitted in writing to Poshmark Support.²

Under Section 10(h), Poshmark receives payment from the buyer on behalf of the seller, and those funds may be redeemed by the seller through Poshmark's permitted payment providers or used to buy items listed by other sellers.¹

Under Section 10(l), Posh Credits cannot, unless required by law, be redeemed for cash or cash equivalents, transferred or applied to prior purchases, and Poshmark may cancel any Posh Credits at any time upon reasonable notice.¹

Redemption pays only to a bank or payment account whose name matches the legal name or business entity on the Poshmark account; the Seller KYC Info determines who is authorized to redeem earnings and is subject to verification.⁴

Poshmark states that a name mismatch means a redemption may be delayed, held or rejected.⁴

Redemption settles in 2-3 business days by Direct Deposit, in 30 minutes or less by Instant Transfer, PayPal or Venmo, and in about 2 weeks by check.⁵

Gift cards do not expire or incur fees, but once a gift card is redeemed to an account, the amount cannot be transferred to another account.⁶

Under Posh Protect a buyer has 72 hours after delivery to open a return case, and if no case is opened within 3 days of delivery, payment is automatically released to the seller.⁷

Under Section 10(m), after a period of statutory required account dormancy, Poshmark escheats unclaimed funds to the relevant government authorities and may charge a dormancy fee where applicable rules allow one.¹

The escheatment dormancy period is set by the applicable state's unclaimed-property statute, not by Poshmark, and the claim is then made to that state's unclaimed-property office.¹

Listings stay purchasable until someone takes them down. Vacation Hold sets existing listings to Not For Sale, but they can still be viewed, liked, commented on and shared, and new listings created during a hold default to Available.⁸

Poshmark points to Vacation Hold as the reversible alternative to deleting a closet; a hold can be set for a maximum period of 6 months.³

A buyer whose order has not shipped 7 days after purchase can cancel it for a full refund, from the start of the 8th day after purchase.⁹

Sellers who repeatedly cancel or fail to ship orders may face temporary account restrictions, and continued violations may result in permanent account suspension.^{8, 9}

Listings, photos, followers, Love Notes, Ambassador status and sales history do not move to another account.¹

The California Privacy Notice describes a "Right to Know (Access)" covering the specific pieces of personal information Poshmark has collected, and names privacy@poshmark.com for help exercising those rights.¹⁰

The Privacy Policy's authorized-agent route requires proof that the consumer has provided permission, and Poshmark may still require the consumer to verify their own identity directly with it.¹⁰
