Frequently asked questions
Under the former HawaiianMiles program, miles were forfeited at death. The merged Atmos Rewards program follows Alaska Airlines' Memorial Miles practice, under which a deceased member's points are transferred to one or more named survivors at no charge with a copy of the death certificate and each recipient's Atmos Rewards account number. Memorial Miles is an internal Guest Care practice and is not written into the published Atmos Rewards Conditions of Membership, so it is handled at Alaska's discretion rather than as a contractual right.
Memorial Miles transfers are handled at no charge. Lifetime member-to-member transfers cost $10.00 per 1,000 points plus a $25.00 processing fee per transaction.
Points can be divided among multiple named recipients. Each recipient needs their own Atmos Rewards account number at the time the request is submitted, and enrollment is free.
The Atmos Rewards account line is 1-833-902-8667 and Alaska Airlines Guest Care is 1-800-654-5669, both staffed 7am-7pm PT Monday-Friday and 8am-5pm PT Saturday. Alaska Airlines publishes no email address, fax number, or mailing address for Guest Care on its current contact page, so the phone line issues the submission channel for the death certificate and account information.
HawaiianMiles balances were converted 1:1 to Atmos Rewards points, and the legacy account number is still useful for locating the account. A Memorial Miles request identifies the account by the member's name and the Atmos Rewards or former HawaiianMiles number, together with a copy of the death certificate. Signing in as the deceased member is not part of the process.
After the transfer is complete, the recipient can use the points according to the program's standard terms. Document the deceased account holder's details to make this process easier for your executor or family.
