Follow these steps to file a death claim with Veridian:

Settlement depends on the account structure:
  • POD beneficiary: beneficiary provides government-issued ID and death certificate to claim funds
  • Joint account with right of survivorship: surviving owner retains full access to funds
  • No beneficiary or surviving joint owner: funds become part of the estate and go through probate

For probate estates, provide legal authority:
  • Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration issued by an Iowa or Nebraska probate court
  • Small Estate Affidavit may be accepted if the estate qualifies under applicable state law
  • Iowa: small estate affidavit available for estates under $100,000 in personal property (Iowa Code 633A.3113)
  • Nebraska: small estate affidavit available for estates under $50,000 in personal property (Neb. Rev. Stat. 30-24,125)

Veridian requires a certified death certificate to begin the account settlement process. Federal benefit payments (Social Security, VA) received after death may be returned to the government.
