Estate planning for your Titan investment accounts starts with understanding how each one transfers at death. Beneficiary designations and trust retitling both bypass probate, but the right approach depends on the account type, your tax situation, and how much control you want over distributions.

Titan offers 7 investment accounts, each with its own transfer rules. The sections below cover how to set up beneficiaries, fund a trust, and which products support each approach.

1
Add or review a beneficiary in the Titan web portal
  • Log in at https://app.titan.com/
  • Account Settings icon (bottom left) > Beneficiaries > Add
  • Supported self-service only for a single primary beneficiary receiving 100% of the account
2
Message the Wealth Team for splits, contingents, trusts, or spousal consent
  • Use the in-app web chat (the logo in the bottom right after login) or email support@titan.com from the address on your Titan account
  • Provide the beneficiary's full name, SSN or TIN, date of birth, relationship, and percentage share; for a trust, the trust's full legal name, EIN or grantor SSN, the trustee names, and the date the trust was established
Online Portal→

Required Documents

  • Trust name, date established, and tax ID (EIN or SSN)

Special Requirements

  • The Titan web portal supports ONE primary beneficiary at 100%. Splits, contingent beneficiaries, and naming a trust must be handled by the Titan team via chat or support@titan.com
  • Split allocations and contingent beneficiaries added through the team are not displayed in the web portal -- do not treat the portal as the record of what is on file
  • Community property states (AZ, CA, ID, LA, NV, NM, TX, WA, WI): spousal consent is required to name someone other than a spouse, and Titan routes that through the Wealth Team
  • The TOD form is Apex Clearing's. It states that TOD registration is not available to residents in all jurisdictions, that no designation takes effect until Apex receives and accepts it, and that the designation cannot be revoked or changed by a will, codicil, or trust document -- only by filing a new TOD form
  • Beneficiary shares on the TOD form must total 100% and cannot be entered as fractions or dollar amounts
  • A Trusted Contact is not a beneficiary. Titan lets you add one (through the team only), but a Trusted Contact cannot transact, act on your behalf, or inherit anything
