The goal with your Levo Credit Union accounts is to make sure every account has a transfer mechanism in place—either a POD beneficiary designation or trust ownership. Because Levo Credit Union is a membership-based institution, trust retitling must maintain the membership eligibility requirement. Accounts without either one will require probate, which means court involvement and delays for your family.

Each of Levo Credit Union's 14 accounts has different rules for how it transfers at death. The sections below explain the options for each.

1
Visit any of the 8 Levo Credit Union branch locations
2
Bring required identification and information:
  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Beneficiary details: full legal name, date of birth, Social Security Number, and relationship
3
Request to add a Payable on Death (POD) beneficiary designation to your deposit account
4
Understand how POD designations work:
  • Single-owner accounts: funds pass directly to the named POD beneficiary on death
  • Joint accounts: funds pass to surviving joint owner first, then to the named POD beneficiary on death of the last owner
5
Review and sign the POD beneficiary designation form
6
Request a copy of the completed form for your records

Required Documents

  • Trust name, date established, and tax ID (EIN or SSN)

Special Requirements

  • POD designations available for deposit accounts (checking, savings, certificates, money market)
  • IRA beneficiary designations are separate from POD and are set at account opening or by contacting the credit union
  • POD beneficiary designation forms are not available for online self-service
  • Investment or insurance products may have separate beneficiary processes
