Revolut does not currently support beneficiary designations, transfer-on-death registrations, or trust account titling on any account type. All Revolut accounts pass through the estate at death and may require probate.
When an account holder dies, the executor or administrator will need to contact Revolut with a death certificate and legal authority documents to claim account balances. The process and required documents are covered on the death claim page.
Revolut does not currently support beneficiary designations (POD or TOD) on any account type. All accounts transfer through the estate at death and may require probate.
Revolut does not support retitling accounts into a trust, naming a trust as beneficiary, or any other probate-avoidance mechanism. Account balances transfer through the estate at death.
Revolut Spending Account (Prepaid Visa / Mastercard)
A prepaid card account, not a checking account. The card is issued by Lead Bank, Member FDIC, and Revolut states that "Funds in your Revolut Prepaid Card Account will be transferred to and held by Lead Bank, an FDIC insured institution." Coverage is FDIC PASS-THROUGH: it depends on Revolut's records, and Revolut's own cryptocurrency-terms footer states plainly that "FDIC insurance does not protect your funds in the event of Revolut's failure or from the risk of theft or fraud." No POD beneficiary designation and no trust titling exists, so the balance passes through the estate via the bereavement process.
Revolut High-Yield Savings Account
Savings account services are provided by Cross River Bank, Member FDIC, insured up to $250,000. One High Yield Account per user, capped at $10,000 in user-initiated deposits; balances above that earn the standard Savings rate. Maximum combined balance across all Savings Accounts is $250,000 per user. APYs (variable, stated as accurate 8/20/2025): High Yield 4.00% Standard plan, 4.50% Premium, 5.50% Metal; other Savings Accounts 3.25% / 3.35% / 3.75%. No POD beneficiary designation and no trust titling.
Revolut Savings Vaults
Which bank holds a vault depends on when it was opened, which matters to an executor tracing where the money actually is: Savings Vaults created on or before July 29, 2025 are provided by Sutton Bank, Member FDIC; vaults created after July 29, 2025 are provided by Cross River Bank, Member FDIC. Each is insured up to $250,000 at the holding bank. No POD beneficiary designation.
