How your MSUFCU accounts transfer at death depends on how each one is set up. As a membership-based credit union, MSUFCU operates 35 branches across Michigan and Illinois. Membership open to anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school, or owns a business in Michigan. Also serves the MSU community, select employee groups, and community organizations. Chicago branches include locations in Lincoln Park, Bucktown, Old Town, Gold Coast, and Lincoln Square. Michigan branches include 13 Greater Lansing locations. Headquartered at 3777 West Road, East Lansing, MI 48823. With 12 account types, the transfer rules vary—getting the right designations in place now prevents delays and court involvement later.

Beneficiary designations at MSUFCU can be managed in branch and by mail, typically taking 15-30 minutes in branch; 1-2 weeks by mail. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle accounts into the name of a revocable living trust.

There are two sides to estate planning at MSUFCU: setting things up while you're alive, and the process survivors follow after a death.
