How your MSUFCU accounts transfer at death depends on how each one is set up. As a membership-based credit union, MSUFCU michigan and Illinois. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school, or owns a business in Michigan, plus the MSU and Oakland University communities and select employee groups. Headquartered at 3777 West Road, East Lansing, MI 48823. Illinois presence includes Chicago-area branches and, since the July 1, 2026 American Eagle Bank acquisition, the former American Eagle offices in South Elgin and Chicago. Heirs settling a legacy American Eagle Bank account can reach those offices at 847-742-7400 (South Elgin / loans) or 773-328-2350 (Chicago); the accounts themselves are now MSUFCU accounts and the estate process below applies to them. With 13 account types, the transfer rules vary—getting the right designations in place now prevents delays and court involvement later.
Beneficiary designations at MSUFCU can be managed in branch and by mail, typically taking 15-30 minutes in branch; 1-2 weeks by mail. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle accounts into the name of a revocable living trust.
