After a Logix member dies, the Logix Financial Services (Estate Planning & Trust Services) manages the transfer of accounts. POD-designated and trust-owned accounts pass directly to beneficiaries. Accounts held solely in the member's name may require probate court documents—Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration—before funds can be released.
To start, call Logix at 1-800-328-5328. Have the account holder's full name, account numbers, and a certified death certificate ready before you call.
The death claim process at Logix works as follows:
For investment accounts held through Logix Financial Services, also contact Financial Consultants at 800-553-3707 (Mon-Fri 8:00 AM-6:00 PM PT). Overnight deliveries can be sent to 27918 Franklin Parkway, Valencia, CA 91355.
Processing timelines at Logix: POD and joint accounts processed upon verification of documentation; estate accounts requiring probate vary by state and court timelines. Incomplete documentation is the most common cause of delays—submitting all required documents with the initial claim helps avoid additional processing time.
Logix requires several documents to process a claim, including Certified death certificate (10-12 copies recommended for working with multiple institutions), Government-issued photo ID for beneficiary, executor, or successor trustee, and Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration (if no POD and not a joint or trust account), and additional documentation depending on the account type. Certified copies are typically needed—photocopies are generally not accepted for death certificates or court documents.
No. IRA accounts at Logix — including IRA Savings Accounts and IRA Share Certificates — cannot be titled in the name of a trust. However, a trust can be named as beneficiary of an IRA. Naming a trust as IRA beneficiary requires care: distributions to a trust beneficiary after the IRA owner's death are generally subject to the 10-year rule under the SECURE Act, and the trust must qualify as a "see-through" trust to allow look-through to individual trust beneficiaries for distribution purposes. Confirm current requirements with Logix Financial Consultants at 800-553-3707.
When a Logix certificate account has a trust named as POD (Payable on Death) beneficiary and the account owner dies, the successor trustee presents the death certificate, government-issued ID, and a copy of the trust or Certificate of Trust to any Logix branch or by mail. Logix will verify the trustee's authority and release the certificate balance to the trust. Early withdrawal penalties do not apply in this scenario since the distribution is triggered by death. If the certificate has not yet matured, funds are distributed at the current balance without penalty.
Logix's Member Service Center (Death Claims) can be reached by phone at 1-800-328-5328 and fax at 1-800-713-0258 for questions throughout the claims process.
When the deceased had multiple Logix accounts, some may need separate claims while others can be handled together. The Logix Financial Services (Estate Planning & Trust Services) can clarify what's needed for each account type.
