Logix offers 20 accounts, each with its own rules for what happens when a member dies. As a membership-based credit union, Logix accepts new accounts from residents of AZ, CA, MA, MD, ME, NH, NV, VA. 19 branches in Southern California (Los Angeles, Ventura, and Kern counties). Membership also available through American Consumer Council (no cost) or Moorpark College Friends of the Foundation. Once you become a member, membership never expires. Some transfer automatically to a named beneficiary, others can be held in a trust, and a few may require probate if no plan is in place.

Logix lets account holders update beneficiary designations in branch, by mail, and by phone, typically taking 15-30 minutes in branch; 1-2 weeks by mail. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle accounts into the name of a revocable living trust.

Logix has documented procedures for both preparing accounts during your lifetime and handling claims when an account holder passes away.

Frequently asked questions

Logix Financial Services partners with The Private Trust Company N.A. (an LPL Financial affiliate) to offer trust planning services. These include living trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts (ILITs), qualified personal residence trusts (QPRTs), generation-skipping trusts, and charitable trusts. Financial Consultants also assist with retirement planning, investment management, and insurance products. Schedule an appointment at wealthappointments.logixbanking.com or call 800-553-3707 Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-6:00 PM PT.

Under the "Written Trusts" clause of Logix's Membership and Accounts Agreement, once all Account Holders named as trustee have died or are shown to be incapacitated, Logix will follow the successor trustee's instructions only after the successor trustee executes a NEW ACCOUNT APPLICATION and a Certification of Trust Affidavit naming the new trustees. Logix may also require a notarized Trustee's Certificate of Trust or other satisfactory evidence of the trust's existence, contents, and trustee powers. Two limits are worth knowing: Logix states it will not act as trustee or successor trustee under any circumstances, and it takes no responsibility to interpret or enforce the trust's terms. The same "updated New Account Application" requirement applies to a surviving joint owner — under the Transferability clause, a transfer by operation of law is not binding on Logix until the paperwork is executed.
