LGE Community CU offers 21 accounts, each with its own rules for what happens when a member dies. As a membership-based credit union, LGE Community CU serves residents and employees in 15 northwest Georgia counties: Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Cherokee, Cobb, Dade, Douglas, Floyd, Fulton, Gordon, Murray, Paulding, Polk, Walker, and Whitfield. Family members of existing members and employees of Partner Group companies are also eligible. Mailing address: P.O. Box 1188, Marietta, GA 30061-9974. Multiple branch locations across metro Atlanta and northwest Georgia. Some transfer automatically to a named beneficiary, others can be held in a trust, and a few may require probate if no plan is in place.

LGE Community CU handles beneficiary designations in branch, by mail, and by phone. Accounts can also be retitled into a trust to keep them out of probate entirely.

There are two sides to estate planning at LGE Community CU: setting things up while you're alive, and the process survivors follow after a death.

LGE Community CU operates in select states, so estate planning procedures may vary by location. Confirm availability in your state before initiating trust funding or account changes.

Frequently asked questions

Two things, neither of which is legal advice from LGE. LGE Investment Group offers consultations; Ronnie Shelby (770-421-2680, Ronnie.Shelby@lgeinvest-lpl.com) is its retirement and estate planning specialist, serving the Canton, Dallas, Kennesaw, Marietta, West Cobb, and Cartersville branches, with securities and advisory services offered through LPL Financial (Member FINRA/SIPC; not NCUA insured). Separately, LGE has a member partnership with Trust & Will, an online estate planning platform, covering wills, trusts, healthcare directives, and powers of attorney (lgeccu.org/trust-and-will.html). The LGE page currently shows conflicting discount figures -- a 20% headline and a 10% call-to-action -- so confirm the rate at sign-up. Those documents are prepared by Trust & Will, not LGE, and LGE does not give legal advice on estate or probate matters.
