Greylock FCU handles beneficiary designations in branch, by mail, and by phone. Accounts can also be retitled into a trust to keep them out of probate entirely.

Greylock FCU provides specific procedures for both proactive estate planning and filing claims after a death.

Frequently asked questions

Visit any Greylock FCU branch, call 413-236-4000 or 1-800-207-5555, or request a beneficiary form by mail. Provide beneficiary details including full name, date of birth, Social Security number, and relationship. POD designations are available for deposit accounts (checking, savings, money market, certificates). IRA accounts use a separate beneficiary designation form. A will or trust does not override a beneficiary designation form on file.

Yes. Visit any Greylock FCU branch with your trust document (or Certificate of Trust), government-issued photo ID for all trustees, and the trust EIN or SSN. Complete new account paperwork in the trust name. Existing accounts may need to be closed and reopened under the trust title. IRA accounts cannot be retitled to a trust but can name a trust as beneficiary. At least one trustee must be eligible for Greylock FCU membership.

Round Up Checking automatically rounds each debit card purchase to the nearest dollar and deposits the difference into your primary share savings account. Each month your round-ups receive a 10% bonus from Greylock. The account requires a $15 initial deposit and a $5 minimum balance. Includes a free VISA debit card with EMV chip, real-time fraud alerts, and digital banking access.

IRAs cannot be retitled to a trust. However, you may name a trust as the beneficiary of your IRA at Greylock FCU. A will or trust does not override the beneficiary designation form on file. Consult a tax advisor before naming a trust as IRA beneficiary, as it can affect distribution timelines and required minimum distributions.

Membership eligibility is determined through an online quiz at membercheck.greylock.org. Historically, Greylock FCU serves residents and employees in Berkshire County, MA and Columbia County, NY. Employees of partner employers (including a historical connection to General Electric/General Dynamics) and immediate family of current members are also eligible. A $5 minimum deposit in a Primary Share account establishes membership.

Greylock offers four Visa credit cards: the Low Rate Card (10.75%-18.00% variable, no rewards), the Rewards Card (3x gas, 2x restaurants/groceries, 1x everything else), the Signature Rewards Card (1.5x all purchases, no foreign transaction fees), and the Secured Card ($250 minimum deposit for credit building). All cards have no annual fee and offer 0% introductory APR for 12 months on purchases and balance transfers (except Secured Card).

Greylock FCU has 14 branches: 13 in Berkshire County, MA (Adams, Allendale/Pittsfield, Berkshire Medical Center, Elm Street/Pittsfield, General Dynamics, Great Barrington, Kellogg Street/Pittsfield, Lanesborough, Lee, Lenox, North Adams, West Street/Pittsfield, Williamstown) and 1 in Hudson, NY (Greenport/Hudson). Video Teller services are available at ATMs with extended hours.
