Estate planning at Elevations CU means getting each account set up so it transfers automatically when you die—either through a POD beneficiary or trust ownership. Because Elevations CU is a membership-based institution, trust retitling must maintain the membership eligibility requirement. Without one of these in place, accounts may require probate before your family can access the funds.

With 22 product types, Elevations CU offers a range of transfer options. Some accounts support Payable on Death (POD) designations, others can be retitled into a trust, and some require probate if no beneficiary is designated. The sections below break down each step.

1
Locate a branch at https://www.elevationscu.com/locations and visit during business hours
2
Request to add or update POD/beneficiary designations on your accounts
3
Provide each beneficiary's full legal name, SSN, date of birth, relationship, and percentage allocation
4
Complete and sign the designation form with a branch representative

Required Documents

  • Trust name, date established, and tax ID (EIN or SSN)

Special Requirements

  • POD designation is payable to the owner(s) during their lifetimes; on death of the last owner, funds are payable to named surviving POD beneficiaries
  • If all named POD beneficiaries predecease the owner(s), funds are paid to the estate of the last surviving owner
  • Beneficiary designations on IRA accounts supersede instructions in a will or trust
  • Trusts may be named as POD beneficiary on deposit accounts
