There are two sides to estate planning at Elevations CU: setting things up while you're alive, and the process survivors follow after a death.

Frequently asked questions

Membership is open to anyone who lives or works in 20 Colorado counties: Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Delta, Denver, Douglas, Eagle, El Paso, Gilpin, Grand, Jefferson, Larimer, Mesa, Park, Pitkin, Routt, Summit, or Weld. You can also join if you work for one of nearly 400 partner employers and associations, if you are a family member of an existing member, or if you are anywhere in Colorado through a $15 donation to the Elevations Foundation. Membership requires opening a Membership Savings Account with a one-time $5 fee.

Yes. Elevations provides financial advisors through CUSO Financial Services (CFS) and LPL Financial LLC. Services include investment planning, retirement planning, estate planning and wealth transfer, life and long-term care insurance, and education planning. The first consultation is free for members. Contact (800) 429-7626 or visit https://www.elevationscu.com/financial-planning/wealth-management to schedule an appointment.

A conservatorship estate account allows a court-appointed conservator to manage funds for a Protected Person who is unable to manage their own finances. Letters of Conservatorship issued in Colorado are required, and the Protected Person must be a current Elevations member or qualify for membership. These accounts must be opened in person at a branch, and powers of attorney are not accepted.

Trust beneficiaries are typically permitted on Traditional and Roth IRAs at Elevations, but additional documentation (Trust Agreement and trustee identification) is required and the IRA beneficiary designation supersedes will and trust instructions. Contact Elevations at (800) 429-7626 or speak with an advisor through CUSO Financial Services / LPL Financial to confirm requirements for your situation.
