Estate planning for your EagleBank accounts starts with understanding how each one transfers at death. Beneficiary designations and trust retitling both bypass probate, but the right approach depends on the account type, your tax situation, and how much control you want over distributions.

With 13 product types, EagleBank offers a range of transfer options. Some accounts support Payable on Death (POD) designations, others can be retitled into a trust, and some require probate if no beneficiary is designated. The sections below break down each step.

1
Visit any EagleBank branch (locations: https://www.eaglebankcorp.com/locations/) with a valid government-issued photo ID.
2
Request to add or update a Payable on Death (POD) beneficiary designation:
  • Provide beneficiary full legal name, date of birth, and Social Security number
  • Specify relationship to account holder
  • Designate primary and contingent beneficiaries with percentage allocations totaling 100%
3
Sign the completed POD beneficiary designation form.
4
Keep a copy of the signed form for your records.

Required Documents

  • Trust name, date established, and tax ID (EIN or SSN)

Special Requirements

  • Online beneficiary designation is not available; an in-branch visit is required.
  • POD designations override any contrary provisions in a will.
  • IRA beneficiary designations require a separate form from the POD form for deposit accounts.
  • Named beneficiaries have no rights to the account during the account owner's lifetime.
