EagleBank offers 13 consumer accounts that interact with estate planning in distinct ways. Of those, 11 can name a trust as beneficiary or be retitled into a trust. Understanding the transfer methods available for each account type helps families keep assets out of probate and ensure they pass to the right people.

Managing beneficiaries at EagleBank is straightforward—changes can be made in branch and by phone, typically taking 15-30 minutes at a branch. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle accounts into the name of a revocable living trust.

EagleBank provides specific procedures for both proactive estate planning and filing claims after a death.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. EagleBank offers CDARS (Certificate of Deposit Account Registry Service) and Insured Cash Sweep (ICS) products that distribute deposits across a network of FDIC-insured institutions to provide coverage well beyond the standard $250,000 per-depositor limit. CDARS applies to CDs ($10,000 minimum), while ICS applies to savings-style accounts with up to six withdrawals per month. Both require only a single banking relationship with EagleBank and provide a single monthly statement.

EagleBank has 18 locations across the Washington, DC metro area. Maryland locations include Bethesda (7735 Old Georgetown Rd), Chevy Chase (5480 Wisconsin Ave), Park Potomac (12505 Park Potomac Ave), Shady Grove/Rockville (9600 Blackwell Rd), Twinbrook/Rockville (12300 Twinbrook Pkwy), and Silver Spring (8665-B Georgia Ave). Virginia locations include Ballston/Arlington (4420 N. Fairfax Dr), Fairfax (11166 Fairfax Blvd), and Tysons Corner (8245 Boone Blvd). DC locations include Gallery Place (700 K St NW), K Street (2001 K St NW), and McPherson Square (1425 K St NW). Most branches open Monday-Thursday 8:30 AM-4:00 PM and Friday 8:30 AM-5:00 PM; some offer Saturday hours 9:00 AM-12:00 PM. Corporate headquarters is located at 7500 Old Georgetown Road, Suite 1500, Bethesda, MD 20814.

EagleBank allows checking, savings, money market, and CD accounts to be retitled to a revocable living trust. Schedule an appointment by calling 301.986.1800 or 877.575.3245 and visit any EagleBank branch with the Certificate of Trust or complete trust agreement, government-issued photo ID for all trustees, and the trust's tax identification number (typically the grantor's SSN for a revocable trust; an EIN for irrevocable trusts). A banker will review the documents, verify trustee authority, and have you sign new signature cards under the trust name. IRAs cannot be retitled to a trust but can name a trust as beneficiary.

Yes. While IRAs cannot be retitled to a trust under IRS rules, EagleBank allows a revocable or irrevocable trust to be named as the primary or contingent beneficiary on Eagle Retirement Savings and Eagle IRA CD accounts. The IRA beneficiary designation form is separate from the deposit account POD form. Spousal consent rules and SECURE Act distribution rules may apply. Schedule an appointment at any EagleBank branch or call 301.986.1800 / 877.575.3245 to update your IRA beneficiary designation.
