Preparing your Del-One accounts for estate transfer involves two key steps: designating beneficiaries on each account and, where appropriate, retitling accounts into a trust. Because Del-One is a membership-based institution, trust retitling must maintain the membership eligibility requirement. Accounts with Payable on Death designations or trust ownership bypass probate entirely.

The transfer rules at Del-One vary across 13 accounts. Below is a breakdown of beneficiary options, trust funding, and which products support each method.

3
Complete the form at the branch:
  • Bring government-issued photo ID for all account owners
  • Provide the full legal name and residential address for each beneficiary
  • All account owners must sign the form in the presence of branch staff
4
Retain a copy of the completed form for your records

Required Documents

  • Trust name, date established, and tax ID (EIN or SSN)

Special Requirements

  • Del-One supports Payable on Death (POD) designations on deposit accounts (Del. Code tit. 12, ch. 8)
  • Beneficiaries must provide their full legal name and residential address
  • Beneficiaries have no interest in or access to the account until the death of all account owners
  • IRA beneficiary designations are managed separately from deposit account POD designations
  • A trust may be named as a POD beneficiary on deposit accounts
