Estate planning for your Casa accounts starts with understanding how each one transfers at death. Beneficiary designations bypass probate, but the right approach depends on the account type, your tax situation, and how much control you want over distributions.
Casa offers 6 accounts, each with its own transfer rules. The sections below cover how to set up beneficiaries, fund a trust, and which products support each approach.

Open the Casa app, go to the Inheritance tab, and invite a Recipient by email address (https://casa.io/inheritance).

After the Recipient creates their free Casa account, add them to the vault and share your mobile key by QR code -- sendable through the app by email or text.

Confirm the designation, then complete key health checks when the app prompts. Revoke or replace the Recipient at any time from the same tab.
Special Requirements
- There is no POD/TOD beneficiary designation at Casa -- Casa Inheritance (an app-based Recipient designation) is the only transfer mechanism Casa offers
- Both the vault owner and the Recipient must have the Casa app and a Casa account
- The Recipient must be at least 18 years old
- The Recipient needs only an email address on the standard path -- no KYC, government ID, or other personally identifiable information (Enhanced Verification is the exception and requires a US government-issued ID from both parties)
- Only one Recipient may be designated at a time; Enhanced Verification allows one optional backup Recipient
- Ongoing key health checks are required of both the owner and the Recipient to keep the shared keys usable
- Enhanced Verification is limited to Private Client members who are US residents
