Once the payoff is received and processed, Ally releases its lien. In paper-title states the title or lien release is mailed within 4 business days if you paid with certified funds (a cashier's check or money order) or within 10 business days for a personal check or online payment. In electronic-title states Ally releases its lien directly with the state, and the Department of Motor Vehicles either issues a clear title or removes Ally's name from the record.
