How to name beneficiaries and fund a trust at Advantis

Covers 12 deposit, 2 retirement, and 3 lending accounts — beneficiaries must be updated in-branch

Brand change

Advantis Credit Union legally merged into Rivermark Community Credit Union on October 1, 2024, assuming Rivermark's charter. Member systems unified March 4, 2025, and the combined entity now operates fully as Rivermark Community Credit Union. Former Advantis accounts and estate/deceased-member servicing run on the Rivermark platform; contact Rivermark at 503-626-6600 or 800-452-8502. The advantiscu.org domain redirects to rivermarkcu.org. Effective October 2024.

The procedures below reflect Advantis's accounts. Account servicing may transfer as the change takes effect.

Estate planning at Advantis means getting each account set up so it transfers automatically when you die—either through a POD beneficiary or trust ownership. Because Advantis is a membership-based institution, trust retitling must maintain the membership eligibility requirement. Without one of these in place, accounts may require probate before your family can access the funds.

Across 17 product types, Advantis accounts vary in how they transfer at death. The sections below walk through Payable on Death (POD) designations, trust funding options, and which products support each method.

1
Visit any Rivermark or Advantis branch with a valid government-issued photo ID
2
Request to add or update beneficiary designations on your accounts
3
Provide beneficiary information:
  • For deposit accounts: request POD (Payable on Death) designation with beneficiary full legal name, date of birth, Social Security number, and relationship
  • For IRA accounts: complete the IRA Beneficiary Designation form with primary and contingent beneficiary sections
4
Review and sign the updated account documentation

Required Documents

  • Trust name, date established, and tax ID (EIN or SSN)

Special Requirements

  • Trust beneficiary designations may require a copy of the Certification of Trust
  • IRA beneficiary changes for married account holders in community property states (OR is not a community property state, but WA is) may require spousal consent for Washington residents
