How your Advantis accounts transfer at death depends on how each one is set up. As a membership-based credit union, Advantis membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school anywhere in the state of Washington, or in 27 western Oregon counties including Benton, Clackamas, Clatsop, Columbia, Coos, Crook, Curry, Deschutes, Douglas, Gilliam, Hood River, Jackson, Jefferson, Josephine, Klamath, Lane, Lincoln, Linn, Marion, Multnomah, Polk, Sherman, Tillamook, Wasco, Washington, Wheeler, and Yamhill. Spouses, parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, step-relatives, and half-siblings of existing members are also eligible. Operates 19 branch locations across Oregon and southwest Washington. Headquartered in Oregon City, OR. With 17 account types, the transfer rules vary—getting the right designations in place now prevents delays and court involvement later.

Beneficiary designations at Advantis can be managed in branch, by mail, and by phone, typically taking 15-30 minutes in branch; longer by mail. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle accounts into the name of a revocable living trust.

Advantis provides specific procedures for both proactive estate planning and filing claims after a death.

Frequently asked questions

Advantis Credit Union legally merged with Rivermark Community Credit Union on October 1, 2024. After the system integration completed in early 2025, the combined credit union operates fully as Rivermark Community Credit Union with 19 branch locations across Oregon and southwest Washington. Former Advantis accounts and services run on the Rivermark platform, and the advantiscu.org website redirects to rivermarkcu.org. Members are served at 503-626-6600 or 800-452-8502.

Membership is open to anyone who lives or works in the Portland metro area or in any of 27 western Oregon counties (including Benton, Clackamas, Clatsop, Columbia, Deschutes, Jackson, Lane, Marion, Multnomah, Washington, Yamhill, and others), or who lives, works, worships, or attends school anywhere in the state of Washington. Eligible relatives of existing members -- including spouses, parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and step-relatives -- can also join.

Yes. Deposit accounts (checking, savings, money market, and certificates) can be retitled to a revocable or irrevocable trust. Visit any Rivermark or Advantis branch with your Certification of Trust or full trust agreement, government-issued photo ID for all trustees, and the trust Tax Identification Number or grantor SSN. IRA accounts cannot be retitled to a trust; instead, name the trust as your IRA beneficiary.

Loyalty Savings is a high-yield savings account earning 4.00% APY on balances up to $25,000. To qualify each month, you must receive at least $1,000 in eligible deposits to a Rivermark checking account within the same membership and be enrolled in e-Statements. If the requirements are not met during a given month, the account earns the unqualified rate for that period. The account requires a $5 minimum deposit to open, has no monthly maintenance fee, and funds remain fully liquid. One Loyalty Savings account is allowed per membership.

Rivermark provides estate planning resources through its Financial Wellness program, including information about trusts, wills, and beneficiary designations. The credit union can assist with retitling deposit accounts to trusts, setting up POD beneficiary designations, and IRA beneficiary changes. For legal documents such as wills and trusts, consult a licensed attorney.
