How your Achieva CU accounts transfer at death depends on how each one is set up. As a membership-based credit union, Achieva CU headquartered in Dunedin, FL (1659 Achieva Way, Dunedin, FL 34698) with 27 branch locations across Florida. Over 500 employees across 12 states. Field of membership covers 15 core counties: Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Monroe, Pasco, Pinellas, and Sarasota. Branches also serve members in Broward, Citrus, Miami-Dade, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, Polk, and Sumter counties. Also finances properties in Tennessee. Individuals outside the field of membership may join by making a minimum contribution to the Achieva Foundation (does not change residency restrictions on loan applicants). Family members of current Achieva members (parents, children, spouse, or relatives by blood, marriage, or adoption) are also eligible. $15 one-time membership fee deducted from initial deposit. Routing number: 263182312. With 24 account types, the transfer rules vary—getting the right designations in place now prevents delays and court involvement later.

Beneficiary designations at Achieva CU can be managed in branch and by phone, typically taking 15-30 minutes in branch. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle accounts into the name of a revocable living trust.

There are two sides to estate planning at Achieva CU: setting things up while you're alive, and the process survivors follow after a death.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Achieva Wealth Advisors provides financial planning and advisory services through Cetera Investment Services LLC (member FINRA/SIPC) and Cetera Investment Advisers LLC. Services include wealth management, retirement planning, legacy planning, CD alternatives, and small business benefits planning. Advisors are employees of Achieva Credit Union. To schedule an appointment, call 844.658.3698 or visit achievawealth.com. Investment and insurance products are not NCUA insured, may lose value, and are not deposits or obligations of the credit union.

Yes. Achieva Credit Union partners with Trust & Will, the leading online estate planning platform, offering members a 20% discount on trust or will creation. Trust & Will helps families create estate plans, including revocable living trusts, last wills, and other estate planning documents. This partnership is separate from Achieva's in-branch trust account services. Members can access the discount through the Achieva website or by contacting member services.

Yes. IRA accounts at Achieva Credit Union cannot be retitled into a trust name, but a trust can be named as the beneficiary on a Traditional IRA, Roth IRA, or SEP IRA using an IRA Beneficiary Designation form. Achieva offers both IRA savings and IRA certificate options. Naming a trust as IRA beneficiary may have tax implications for distributions; consult a tax professional before making this designation.

Visit any Achieva Credit Union branch with your full trust agreement or certification of trust, government-issued photo ID for all trustees, and the trust's Tax ID Number (SSN or EIN). Existing checking, savings, money market, and certificate accounts can be retitled into the trust name. For revocable grantor trusts, this service is available only when a grantor is serving as a trustee and covers the grantor trustee(s). IRA accounts cannot be retitled to a trust. Contact Achieva at 800.593.2274 to confirm required documentation before visiting.

POD beneficiaries on Achieva certificates of deposit work differently than on checking, savings, and money market accounts. Per Achieva's Consumer Account Agreement, the POD designation on your Signature Card does NOT apply to Certificate of Deposit Accounts or Certificate IRAs. Those accounts are governed by a separate written beneficiary designation, so you must complete a separate form to name or change a POD beneficiary on a certificate. Any POD revocation must be in writing and accepted by the credit union to be binding. Contact Achieva at 800.593.2274 to obtain the certificate beneficiary form.

Achieva offers three money market accounts: the Premier Money Market ($2,000 minimum, check writing, unlimited withdrawals at branches or online), the Relationship Money Market ($25,000 minimum, tiered rates that increase with balance and membership tenure), and the Indexed Money Market ($10,000 minimum, rates set between 30%-80% of the Federal Funds rate, limited to five withdrawals per month). All money market accounts are NCUA insured up to $250,000.
