Family sharing
Members can combine points with any other World of Hyatt member to redeem an award, using the Point Combining Request Form. A minimum of 5,000 points is required, with additional conversions in 1,250-point increments. Each member may only participate in a combining transaction (sending or receiving) once every 30 days. Points can be gifted by purchasing them for another member in 1,000-point increments, up to 55,000 points per calendar year. Allow 48 hours for gifted points to appear. Free Night, Points + Cash, and select room upgrade awards can be shared with any World of Hyatt member by calling World of Hyatt, but shared awards can only be gifted once and cannot be transferred back. Hyatt announced in February 2026 that online points sharing will roll out later in 2026, replacing the paper Point Combining Request Form for transfers between members.
Should you save your passwords for your family?
Some people store account passwords so a family member can sign in later. The practice has three practical limits:
- Two-factor authentication often blocks it. Most accounts require a second factor — a code sent to a phone, an authenticator app, a passkey, or a physical key. A saved password alone frequently does not grant access, and the recovery codes that would are easy to lose or let go stale.
- It usually conflicts with the platform's terms. Most operators prohibit account sharing and signing in as another person, including after a death. Stored credentials are not the operator's recognized access path, and using them can violate the terms of service.
