Tyndall's Membership Agreement addresses this directly: where there is no beneficiary designation, no probate proceeding, and no estate, Tyndall may -- but is not required to -- pay the funds to any heir, who is then solely responsible for distributing them further. Alternatively, it may hold the funds until a proper court order is presented, and it may require documentary evidence satisfactory to it before releasing anything. Because that release is discretionary rather than a right, the reliable path for an unbeneficiaried Tyndall account is still a court appointment: Letters of Administration, an Informal Order, or Summary Administration from a Florida court.
Beneficiary changes are made on a Tyndall-approved form, in writing. Tyndall offers DocuSign electronic forms -- including an Add Beneficiary form and a separate IRA Change Beneficiary form -- through online banking (https://www.tyndall.org/learn/documents/docusign-documents); submitted forms are reviewed within 24-48 business hours, and authentication uses the email on your Tyndall account. A deposit-account POD designation does not reach your IRA: the Membership Agreement states IRAs are governed by a separate account agreement and beneficiary designation, so the IRA form must be completed on its own. A POD beneficiary also cannot be an owner of the same account.
Yes. While IRA accounts cannot be retitled to a trust during the owner's lifetime, a revocable living trust can be named as primary or contingent beneficiary on Traditional or Roth IRA Contributory and IRA Certificate accounts. Complete the IRA Change Beneficiary DocuSign form available through online banking, or visit a branch with your trust documentation. Naming a trust as IRA beneficiary has specific tax implications under the SECURE Act 10-year rule and should be reviewed with a tax advisor.
