Truliant FCU is a credit union offering 18 accounts that interact with estate planning in different ways. As a membership-based credit union, Truliant FCU headquartered at 3200 Truliant Way, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. NCUA branch data for 3/31/2026 lists 37 branch offices plus the Winston-Salem corporate office: 30 in North Carolina, 6 in South Carolina, and 2 in Virginia. Significant presence in the Piedmont Triad and Charlotte areas of NC. Field of membership (https://www.truliantfcu.org/bank/become-a-member) has four pathways: a free American Consumer Council association membership, which is open to residents of ANY U.S. state; living, working, worshipping, or attending school in a county near a branch; an immediate family or household member who is already a Truliant member; or employment at a partner company. A $5 deposit into a Membership Savings account establishes membership. Because the association route is nationwide, an out-of-state trustee or heir can generally still be served, though branch business is concentrated in NC, SC, and VA. Understanding how each account transfers at death—and which ones a trust can hold—helps families avoid probate delays and unintended outcomes.

Beneficiary designations at Truliant FCU can be managed in branch, by mail, and by phone, typically taking 15-30 minutes. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle accounts into the name of a revocable living trust.

Truliant FCU has documented procedures for both preparing accounts during your lifetime and handling claims when an account holder passes away.

Frequently asked questions

No. Truliant's Specialty Accounts page states that a revocable trust account uses the SSN/TIN — the grantor's own taxpayer number — while an irrevocable trust must use a TIN of its own. So a standard revocable living trust can be funded at Truliant while the grantor is alive without applying to the IRS for a separate EIN. In either case Truliant requires the Certificate of Trust or the trust document AND its own Certificate of Trust Affidavit, plus photo ID for each trustee. Trust accounts are opened in a branch, not online.
