How your SCCU accounts transfer at death depends on how each one is set up. As a membership-based credit union, SCCU serves more than 685,000 members in 34 Florida counties with 70 branch locations. Third-largest credit union in Florida with over $9 billion in assets. Membership open to anyone who lives or works in the counties SCCU serves. With 15 account types, the transfer rules vary—getting the right designations in place now prevents delays and court involvement later.

Beneficiary designations at SCCU can be managed in branch, by mail, and by phone, typically taking 15-30 minutes. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle accounts into the name of a revocable living trust.

SCCU provides specific procedures for both proactive estate planning and filing claims after a death.

Frequently asked questions

Visit any SCCU branch with your complete trust agreement or Certificate of Trust, government-issued ID for all trustees, and the trust EIN or SSN. Trust accounts follow a separate process from standard POD designations -- retitling an existing account will revoke any existing POD designations on that account. Contact SCCU at 800-447-7228 to initiate the process. IRA accounts cannot be retitled to a trust, but a trust can be named as IRA beneficiary.
