The goal with your SCCU accounts is to make sure every account has a transfer mechanism in place—either a POD beneficiary designation or trust ownership. Because SCCU is a membership-based institution, trust retitling must maintain the membership eligibility requirement. Accounts without either one will require probate, which means court involvement and delays for your family.

  • Bring government-issued photo ID
  • Request the Payable-on-Death Agreement form

Complete and submit the form:
  • Complete form with primary and contingent beneficiary information
  • Sign the form and submit it to a branch representative

Required Documents

  • Trust name, date established, and tax ID (EIN or SSN)

Special Requirements

  • POD designations available for deposit accounts (checking, savings, CDs, money market)
  • IRA and Trust accounts are excluded from the POD form and follow separate processes
  • Joint accounts pass to surviving owner by right of survivorship
  • POD designation can be changed or revoked at any time by completing a new form
  • Beneficiary does not need to be present or be an SCCU member
