How to protect 7 Resolution Life accounts — manage beneficiaries by phone, and file death claims
Brand change
Nippon Life Insurance Company completed its acquisition of 100% of Resolution Life's shares on 31 October 2025. Resolution Life continues to operate under its own name and remains the servicer and payer on every US block listed here -- policyholder contacts, claims portals, and phone numbers are unchanged. Nothing about a claim changes because of the Nippon Life deal. Effective October 2025.
The procedures below reflect Resolution Life's accounts. Account servicing may transfer as the change takes effect.

With 7 products relevant to estate planning, Resolution Life policyholders need to understand how beneficiary designations control where proceeds go. These designations override a will, so the names on file with Resolution Life are what determine who receives the death benefit.
Beneficiary changes at Resolution Life can be made by mail and by phone.
Resolution Life provides specific procedures for both proactive estate planning and filing claims after a death.

View details →Yes. A closed block does not strip contractual rights. The policy owner keeps the right to change the beneficiary and to assign ownership, so a permanent policy (whole, universal, variable) or a term policy can be transferred to an ILIT, and a trust can be named as beneficiary on any of these policies or annuity contracts. Two practical points. First, the assignment and beneficiary forms come from Resolution Life on request, not from a download -- call the servicing line for your block. Second, on the Voya/ING block, life insurance and annuities are handled by different teams: life at 877-886-5050, annuity contracts at 855-720-0409. Naming a trust as an annuity beneficiary is allowed but changes the payout options a human beneficiary would have had, so confirm the consequences with the annuity team before you file the form.
