Regional Acceptance Customer Service (Deceased Account Holder)

Verified Jul 2026

When a borrower at Regional Acceptance dies, the loan does not simply disappear. The executor contacts Regional Acceptance to establish authority, learn the payoff amount, and choose how to handle the balance under the servicer's procedures and applicable law.

Regional Acceptance provides specific procedures for both proactive estate planning and filing claims after a death.

Frequently asked questions

No. Regional Acceptance Corporation is a non-prime indirect auto finance company and a Truist affiliate, part of Truist Dealer Financial Services, but it is serviced separately from the Truist retail bank. A Regional Acceptance contract has its own customer service, payoff, title, and bankruptcy channels at regionalacceptance.com. A Truist bank deposit account or a Truist-branded loan is handled through Truist's own estate channels, not through Regional Acceptance.

Request the exact payoff amount from Customer Service at 877-722-7299, the RAC Auto App, the online Payment Portal, or the monthly statement. There is no penalty for paying off early. Mail the payoff check to Regional Acceptance Corporation, PO Box 580075, Charlotte, NC 28258-0075 (overnight: Attn: Payoff Dept., 1424 East Fire Tower Road, Greenville, NC 27858), and include the account number.

When the account is paid off with certified funds, Regional Acceptance releases the lien on the title within 2 business days. When paid with non-certified funds, the lien is released in approximately 10 business days. Title, duplicate-title, and lien-release requests go to Document Control by fax at 866-611-0993, by email at RACtitles@regacc.com, or by mail to Regional Acceptance Corporation, Attn: Document Control, 1424 E Fire Tower Rd., Greenville, NC 27858. Once the lien is released, the vehicle can be retitled to an heir or sold.

An heir who wants to keep the vehicle generally pays off the loan and retitles the vehicle through the estate, or refinances the balance into their own name; Regional Acceptance does not publish a loan-assumption program. Payments must be kept current in the meantime, because the vehicle secures the loan and can be repossessed if the account falls behind. Call Customer Service at 866-644-7687 to discuss the options for a specific account.
