How your OCCU accounts transfer at death depends on how each one is set up. As a membership-based credit union, OCCU operates 16 full-service branches across Oregon, including locations in Eugene, Springfield, Bend, Redmond, Roseburg, and other communities. Headquartered at 2880 Chad Drive, Eugene, OR 97408. Members also have access to a nationwide network of shared branches and Co-op ATMs. With 9 account types, the transfer rules vary—getting the right designations in place now prevents delays and court involvement later.

Account holders can update their beneficiary designations at OCCU in branch, by mail, and by phone. Accounts can also be retitled into a trust to keep them out of probate entirely.

OCCU has documented procedures for both preparing accounts during your lifetime and handling claims when an account holder passes away.

Frequently asked questions

Remarkable Checking is OCCU's primary checking account, offering 2.00% APY on the first $20,000 when qualifying factors are met. There are no fees and no minimum balance required. Foreign ATM fees from non-OCCU and non-Co-op ATMs are automatically refunded when qualifying factors are met.

Ignite Savings is OCCU's high-yield savings account, earning 5.25% APY on the first $500 with tiered rates on higher balances. There is no minimum balance or deposit required to open the account. Only one Ignite Savings account is allowed per primary membership. Unlimited in-person withdrawals are permitted.

Yes. OCCU accepts both revocable and irrevocable trusts for deposit accounts including checking, savings, Ignite Savings, money market, and certificates of deposit. Visit an OCCU branch with your Certification of Trust (or full trust agreement), valid photo ID for all trustees, and the trust's Tax Identification Number (or grantor SSN for a revocable trust). Existing deposit accounts can be retitled to the trust without closing and reopening, provided the same SSN or EIN is used. IRA accounts cannot be retitled to a trust; the trust can only be named as beneficiary on an IRA.
