How your OnPoint Community CU accounts transfer at death depends on how each one is set up. As a membership-based credit union, OnPoint Community CU branches across Oregon and Southwest Washington, headquartered in Portland. Membership is open to people who live or work in an eligible Oregon or Southwest Washington county, and to their family members. Estate consequence: an OnPoint account almost always sits under OREGON law (simple estate affidavit, ORS 114.505-114.560; credit-union small-deposit payout, ORS 723.466), though a member living in Clark, Cowlitz, Lewis, or Skamania County, Washington may instead use Washington's affidavit procedure (RCW 11.62.010). With 14 account types, the transfer rules vary—getting the right designations in place now prevents delays and court involvement later.

Beneficiary changes at OnPoint Community CU can be made in branch, by mail, and by phone. Accounts can also be retitled into a trust to keep them out of probate entirely.

There are two sides to estate planning at OnPoint Community CU: setting things up while you're alive, and the process survivors follow after a death.
