Frequently asked questions

No. Per the Marcus Deposit Account Agreement (effective June 27, 2025), accounts may not be opened in the name of a trust or other legal entity, and may not be opened or maintained by a fiduciary such as an executor, conservator, guardian, or trustee. Marcus also does not allow a trust to be named as a POD beneficiary — only natural persons who are U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents can be named. If trust funding is a requirement for your estate plan, hold cash at an institution that supports trust-titled accounts and use Marcus only with individual POD beneficiaries or as part of your probate estate.

You can name up to 6 primary beneficiaries per account. All beneficiaries must be natural persons who are U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents with valid Social Security Numbers. All beneficiaries receive equal shares; custom percentages are not supported. Contingent beneficiaries are not available.

A POD account at Marcus is insured up to $250,000 per unique beneficiary, up to a maximum of $1,250,000 per account owner with 5 or more beneficiaries. Each beneficiary must have an equal interest in the deposit for this coverage to apply. Joint accounts have separate FDIC coverage calculations.
