How to name beneficiaries and fund a trust at Everlake Life

Covers 10 insurance, 1 retirement, and 1 deposit accounts — beneficiaries can be managed online

Brand change

Formerly Allstate Life Insurance Company. Allstate sold its life insurance business to Blackstone-managed entities in November 2021 (~$4 billion), and the company was renamed Everlake Life Insurance Company. In-force policies originally issued by Allstate Life are now serviced under the Everlake brand; servicing was administered by Allstate through a transition and migrated to Transaction Applications Group, Inc. (TAG), an NTT Data company, in phases completing June 8, 2026. This is the current active record. Effective November 2021.

The procedures below reflect Everlake Life's accounts. Account servicing may transfer as the change takes effect.

Estate planning with Everlake Life policies centers on beneficiary designations—the single most important step for ensuring life insurance proceeds and annuity benefits reach the intended recipients without probate involvement. Unlike bank or brokerage accounts, insurance products are not retitled into trusts; instead, trusts are named as beneficiaries when estate tax planning or controlled distributions are needed.

Across 12 product types, Everlake Life policies vary in how they transfer at death. The sections below walk through beneficiary designations, trust funding options, and which products support each method.
