Frequently asked questions

No. eToro does not offer trust accounts, joint accounts, custodial accounts, or retirement (IRA) accounts for U.S. customers. Only individual brokerage accounts are available.

No. eToro does not offer Traditional IRAs, Roth IRAs, SEP IRAs, or any other retirement accounts for U.S. customers. If you need a retirement account, you would need to use a different brokerage.

Cryptocurrency held on eToro is treated the same as other account assets. The account will be frozen and open positions (including crypto) will be closed. A court-appointed executor or administrator must work with eToro to settle the account through the estate process. Cryptocurrency is traded through eToro USA LLC and is not covered by SIPC or FDIC insurance.

Securities (stocks and ETFs) held through eToro USA Securities Inc. are custodied at Apex Clearing Corporation, which is a FINRA/SIPC member. SIPC covers up to $500,000 per customer (including $250,000 for cash) if the brokerage fails. Cryptocurrency holdings are NOT covered by SIPC; crypto is traded through eToro USA LLC, a separate entity that is not a broker-dealer.
