eToro has 3 investment accounts, each with different rules for what happens when the account holder dies. The right combination of beneficiary designations and trust ownership can keep the entire portfolio out of probate.

eToro has documented procedures for both preparing accounts during your lifetime and handling claims when an account holder passes away.

Frequently asked questions

No. eToro USA does not open trust accounts, so an existing account cannot be retitled into your revocable trust and a successor trustee cannot take it over. A trust can still receive the money after the fact — the executor settles the eToro account through the estate, the balance is paid to the estate, and the estate then distributes it under the will (including a pour-over into the trust). Nothing about the eToro account itself moves to the trust.
