Estate planning at Ent CU

How to protect 12 Ent CU accounts — manage beneficiaries in-branch, fund a trust in-branch, and file claims through Ent CU's Member Services

Brand change

Ent Credit Union and Minnesota-based Wings Credit Union completed a merger of equals effective January 1, 2026. Ent has officially changed its name to Wings Credit Union and continues doing business as Ent Credit Union at its Colorado service centers while the brand transitions (the current Membership Service Agreement, Rev. 07/13/2026, is footed "2026 Wings"). Existing account numbers, checks, cards, POD/beneficiary designations, and trust account titling remain unchanged, and no service centers close as a result of the merger. Share-insurance note published on ent.com: a member holding both legacy Ent and legacy Wings Financial share accounts will have those accounts treated as one account after June 30, 2026, insured to a maximum of $250,000 under NCUA share insurance. Effective January 2026.

The procedures below reflect Ent CU's accounts. Account servicing may transfer as the change takes effect.

How your Ent CU accounts transfer at death depends on how each one is set up. As a membership-based credit union, Ent CU membership open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, El Paso, Elbert, Fremont, Jefferson, Larimer, Pueblo, Teller, and Weld counties in Colorado. Also open to civilian and military personnel of the Colorado Air National Guard, Colorado Army National Guard, and Buckley Space Force Base in Aurora. Family members of existing members are eligible. A $5 savings account deposit is required to establish membership. With 12 account types, the transfer rules vary—getting the right designations in place now prevents delays and court involvement later.

Ent CU lets account holders update beneficiary designations in branch and by phone, typically taking 15-30 minutes. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle accounts into the name of a revocable living trust.

Ent CU provides specific procedures for both proactive estate planning and filing claims after a death.

Frequently asked questions

Visit any Ent service center with a valid government-issued photo ID, or call 800-525-9623. The request must come from the primary account holder. Provide each beneficiary's full legal name, Social Security number, date of birth, and desired percentage allocation. If naming a trust as beneficiary, include the trust name with date established and the trust Tax ID Number. POD designations are available on savings, checking, money market, and certificate accounts but do not apply to IRAs.

Yes. A trust can be named as a POD beneficiary on deposit accounts. Provide the trust name including the date it was established and the trust Tax ID Number. Alternatively, you can retitle deposit accounts directly into trust ownership by providing a Credit Union Affidavit of Trust or Certificate of Trust at any service center. IRAs cannot be converted under a trust per Ent policy, but a trust can be named as beneficiary on an IRA account.

Ent Credit Union merged with Minnesota-based Wings Credit Union effective January 1, 2026. Ent has officially changed its name to Wings Credit Union and continues doing business as Ent Credit Union while the brand transitions; the current Membership Service Agreement (Rev. 07/13/2026) is footed "2026 Wings." Existing checks, debit cards, credit cards, account numbers, POD/beneficiary designations, and trust account titling remain unchanged, and no service centers close as a result of the merger. One estate-relevant consequence: if the decedent held BOTH a legacy Ent share account and a legacy Wings Financial share account, ent.com states those accounts are treated as one account after June 30, 2026 and insured to a maximum of $250,000 under NCUA share insurance, so an executor consolidating balances should check the combined insured total rather than assuming separate coverage.
