Wings CU offers 14 accounts, each with its own rules for what happens when a member dies. As a membership-based credit union, Wings CU membership (per wingscu.com/join-wings) is open to anyone who, or whose immediate family member, lives or works in an eligible Minnesota or Wisconsin county or the Seattle-Tacoma, Detroit, Orlando or Atlanta metro areas; to employees of airlines, government agencies working with the aviation industry, or airport air freight, air courier or air transportation work nationwide (and their immediate family); to immediate family of a current Wings member; and otherwise through a $5+ non-refundable donation to the Wings Financial Foundation at application. A $5 Share Savings account is required. Wings-branded service centers are in Minnesota, Wisconsin (Appleton; Madison by appointment), Michigan (Detroit/Taylor), Florida (Orlando) and Georgia (Atlanta); legacy Ent service centers are on Colorado's Front Range. Wings reports 90 locations in total. Washington is a field-of-membership area without a Wings service center. Wings states that members holding both a legacy Ent Credit Union and a legacy Wings Financial Credit Union share account have those accounts treated as one account, insured up to $250,000 under NCUA share insurance, after June 30, 2026. Some transfer automatically to a named beneficiary, others can be held in a trust, and a few may require probate if no plan is in place.
