Delaware Life offers 13 insurance products that play a central role in estate planning. Because policy proceeds pass directly to named beneficiaries—bypassing probate entirely—keeping designations current is one of the highest-impact steps policyholders can take.

Managing beneficiaries at Delaware Life is straightforward—changes can be made online, by mail, and by phone, typically taking 15-30 minutes. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to name a trust as the policy beneficiary or establish an irrevocable life insurance trust (ILIT).

There are two sides to estate planning at Delaware Life: setting things up while you're alive, and the process survivors follow after a death.

Frequently asked questions

Log in to the policyholder portal at https://portal.delawarelife.io/auth/login to update beneficiaries online. Alternatively, select the Owner & Beneficiary Change form at delawarelife.com/service-forms, complete it with your primary and contingent beneficiary information, and submit by mail to P.O. Box 80428, Indianapolis, IN 46280-0428, by fax to 800-883-9165, or by email to AnnuityForms@delawarelife.com. You can also call 800-374-3714 to request the form.

Delaware Life supports ownership changes on annuity contracts. However, transferring ownership of a non-qualified annuity to a trust may trigger adverse tax consequences. The standard estate planning approach is to name the trust as beneficiary rather than transferring ownership. Consult a tax or estate planning attorney before changing annuity ownership.

Delaware Life provides an online policyholder portal at https://portal.delawarelife.io/auth/login. After registering and logging in, you can view account information, update beneficiary designations, manage contact details, and handle other policy administration tasks. Service forms (including the Owner & Beneficiary Change form) are also available at delawarelife.com/service-forms for completion and submission by mail, fax (800-883-9165), or email (AnnuityForms@delawarelife.com).
